Are you licensed and insured?
Idaho doesn't license roofers — there's no state roofing license or exam. What Idaho requires is contractor registration with the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) for any job over $2,000, plus general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We're registered and insured, and both go on your contract. Verify any contractor on DOPL's online lookup before they climb.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Meridian?
Yes — Meridian's Building Division permits roof-covering replacements through the city's Citizens Portal and inspects the work under the 2018 International Residential Code. We pull it and it's on your invoice. Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Middleton and Garden City each have their own building departments; we handle those too.
How much does a new roof cost?
For a typical 2,000–2,600 square-foot home in 2026: $11,000–$17,500 for architectural shingles, $13,500–$21,000 for Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, $26,000–$44,000 for standing-seam metal. Tear-off, ice barrier, underlayment, flashing, venting, disposal and the permit are included; steep pitches, second layers and soft decking add to it.
Do you charge for inspections?
No. Storm and hail inspections, with photos and test squares, are free. A written inspection report for a home sale, purchase, refinance or insurance renewal is a small flat fee.
Do you require a deposit?
Not until you've approved the written price and we've scheduled the work. Most residential jobs are paid on completion; insurance jobs are paid as the carrier releases funds.
Will you waive my deductible?
No. Idaho Code 41-348 makes it unlawful for a contractor to make a practice of waiving, rebating or paying any part of a homeowner's deductible, and the Idaho Department of Insurance lists deductible 'waivers' as its first red flag for roofing scams. You pay your deductible; we build to the approved scope.
Do you overlay or tear off?
Tear off, every time. Overlays hide rotten decking, add weight to a roof designed for 25 psf of snow, void most warranties and double the next tear-off.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most homes are done in one day with a full crew; large, steep or metal roofs take two. We dry in every night — no open roofs.
What is a Class 4 shingle and is it worth it?
A shingle that passes UL 2218 — a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet without cracking the mat. In a valley that gets hail most summers, and with the premium discount many Idaho carriers offer, it usually pays for itself.
How do I know if I have hail damage?
Dented gutters, vent caps and AC fins, and granules in the downspouts tell you hail hit the house. Whether it damaged the shingles takes a test square on the roof — which is what the free inspection is for.
Why does my ceiling leak in January when there's no rain?
An ice dam: attic heat melts the snow, the meltwater refreezes at the cold eave, and the water behind it backs up under the shingles. Meridian's code doesn't require an ice barrier at the eaves, so most roofs here don't have one. We steam the dam, stop the leak, and fix the ventilation.
Do you work with insurance?
Yes — we document before you file, meet your adjuster on the roof, build to the approved scope and submit supplements properly. We don't bill insurers directly, we don't take assignments of benefits, and we don't waive deductibles.
Do you do metal roofs?
Yes — standing seam for homes, exposed-fastener panel for shops and barns, and stone-coated steel for HOA neighborhoods that want the look of shake.
Do you serve Boise and Nampa?
Yes — Boise, Garden City, Eagle, Star, Middleton, Nampa, Caldwell and Kuna, plus all four sides of Meridian. Ada County and eastern Canyon County.
Do you really answer at night?
24 hours a day, every day. Water through the ceiling at 2 AM gets a person on the phone and a tarp crew moving.
What about my gutters?
We install seamless 5- and 6-inch aluminum on hidden hangers that hold under ice, with guards that shed snow instead of building an ice shelf — with the roof or on their own.
